Understanding the risks

Remember that each fund is unique and hence exposed to different levels of risk. Some are relatively low risk, while others can be very risky and those will only be appropriate for more experienced investors. The value of your investments, and the income derived from them, may go down as well as up. You may not get back all the money you invest. There may be a Fund Manager charge, which is a percentage of the value of your investment. This can differ depending on the fund. We charge a platform fee to cover the administrative cost of managing your funds.

See our Rates & Charges for more details.

What are Investment Funds?

Investment funds allow investors to pool their money with other investors to access investments that they might not be able to individually. Funds typically invest in 30 - 100 stocks, this diversification helps to manage the risk of market downturns or underperformance of individual stocks.

Actively managed funds are run by an expert Fund Manager on behalf of the fund investors.

The individual investments within each fund are detailed in the Key Investor Information Document (KIID) along with its investment objective and risk profile. A KIID is essentially a fund report.

There are a wide range of funds available to invest in with TD Direct Investing, from funds that track an index, such as the FTSE 100 to funds that are invested in UK or global equities.

Use our Fund Selector to search for a fund, click on its name and view the fund report. Alternatively, choose from our of our 50+ Recommended Funds as chosen by our experts.
