By SHAREGIFT

Who are ShareGift?

ShareGift is an independent charity set up in 1996. They provide a charitable home for small donations which they can pool together and sell, distributing the proceeds across UK charities.

What do ShareGift do?

ShareGift transfers donations of unwanted shares into its name, collects them until there are enough to sell and then pools the proceeds for regular distribution to other UK charities. The charity accepts all UK listed shares and many foreign holdings.

Even in a well managed portfolio, small holdings of shares can occur and can be hard to get rid of because selling them costs more than they are worth.

ShareGift specialise in accepting small holdings of shares but they also help people with larger gifts of shares for their favourite charities.

Is it worth going to the trouble of transferring such tiny holdings?

The answer is a resounding yes! Not only could it save you any charges for managing odd lines of stock and take away the hassle of tiny dividends that may still have to be declared, but the overall result of all these small share donations is the millions of pounds that ShareGift donates for hundreds of different UK charities.

Please note: Giving shares to charity gives rise to neither a gain nor a loss for Capital Gains Tax purposes. UK taxpayers may also be able to claim income tax relief on the value of a share donation. Further information can be obtained from the Inland Revenue or your tax adviser.
